What kind of squirrels do you get in england?? red squirrels?

I'm in Northern Ireland, which is still part of Britain, and we have mainly red squirrels, although the greys are a bit of a problem! And, yeah, they are really tame (reds, though, in my case!).What kind of squirrels do you get in england?? red squirrels?
In Ireland greys and red, greys outnumber reds about 10 - 1What kind of squirrels do you get in england?? red squirrels?
Lovely pics Neil. Sorry to be picky Green Mo but it is Sciurus. Interestingly black forms of the Grey Squirrel have been known in Britain for almost a century but just recently have started to spread to the point where in parts of Hertfordshire they are commoner than the normal grey form.
red and grey although red are very rare
The Red Squirrel is the natural British species, however they have been pushed out of most of their habitat by the Imported American Grey squirrel.

American Grey's do not attack British Red's but are better at harvesting food (typically American) and are immune to a squirrel pox virus which they spread amongst the reds and which is fatal to the Reds.

There are a few outposts of Reds in Scotland, the Merseyside coast, and in the south of England, but these are under threat from Grey's. The British Red Squirrel could be extinct in a few years if this situation continues.
Red ones are really rare here because when the grey ones got brought over from america they took over! lol

We have a ton of grey ones though, and most of them are pretty tame, some have sat on my shoulder before!
Squirus carolinensis - Grey Squirrel, introduced to the UK from the USA in the 1940's. Largely overtaken the territory of the red squirrels as it has a broader dietary base and is more adaptable.

Squirus Vulgaris - Red Squirrel, now mainly only present in reserves like Formby, Merseyside and parts of Scotland.
Red, Grey and White -
