Squirrel cage blower (old, from home heating system) has 4 wires, red, orange, brn, black. how to wire for use?

The color code is a little bit odd.

Sounds like a multispeed motor.

Black is usually high speed, red is usually low speed.

Normally a white would be neutral, but you don't mention white.

Orange and brown may be wires for a capacitor.

The best thing to do is look at the motor nameplate, it may be covered by the belly band mounting but should show the correct way to wire and what capacitor to use if it uses one.Squirrel cage blower (old, from home heating system) has 4 wires, red, orange, brn, black. how to wire for use?
take ohm readings between the wires.the windings are most likely wound in parallel. one set will run it on high (most likely red and black)

the orange and brown are to add another pole on the motor halving the speed and doubling the toque.
