How do you get rid of red squirrels from the tiny space between your ceiling and roof?

An exterminator came to my mother's house and put out traps, but caught nothing. Mom put out a small trap and caught several, but she doesn't know how to draw them out of her house. Someone told her to put anti-freeze out since they like it and they would die. But, she doesn't want them dying up there, either, since the space isn't big enough for someone to crawl in and get the animal out. Any suggestions would be helpful. How do you get rid of red squirrels from the tiny space between your ceiling and roof?
You need to close off all the openings and then install a one way door. Once they leave the crawl space the door will prevent them from going back in. A good exterminator will even know how to make the door. Don't use poison cause they can end up dying in the house and creating an infestaion of maggots and an awful smell as well. If there are young squirrels already in the house, then she might want to wait until they are big enough to leave or they will die up there without the parents. How do you get rid of red squirrels from the tiny space between your ceiling and roof?
Continue with the trap. They like nuts and fruit if need bait. Make sure that once they are out then can't get back in again.
Buy screen from a hardware store and patch up all small holes. Or you can get a cat.
We tried to get rid of our squirrels for about 5 years, then decided they won, and we moved.

Either that, or wait awhile. They will eventually chew a hole into your house, and they'll be easier to remove when caught in a trap.

My motto: The only good squirrel is a dead squirrel!
I guess you are in America, and I don't know if you can get those old-fashioned little blocks that used to be hung in a toilet. They smell strongly like lemon. I heard small rodents don't like them. I live in the wood and we have martens that chew on the rubber parts under the hood of a car. No need to tell that might end up to real damage, if not to a bad accident. We put one of those toilet blocks under the hood and the martens seem to hate it and now leave the cars alone. I hope it also goes for squirrels! At least you can try to put some of those in the space between de ceiling and the roof, it's a cheap method.

There are some electric devices too that make a sound they hate, that could be a solution too.

Good luck and greetings from Holland!
fix the holes, shoot the squirrels..

Buy a Crosman 760 Pump pellet gun.
They will eat D-Con and then go out in search of water.
dynamites should do the trick

or pioson

tht should do the trick

although dynamites will be a lot cooler and prevent them from ever coming into your house%26lt;if itz still there%26gt;

althought ur momz techique is a lot better
We had this at a condo I lived in....we had to put a metal screen up in the space where they were getting into. It took several tries (we used the softer screen you'd use on a screen door - but they can break through that pretty easily). So I'd try putting up some kind of bug deterrent or poisons up there, then sealing the area with a metal screen. After we put that up we didn't have any more problems.
Two things.

There are noise makers (High pitch sirens only the animals can hear) she can buy that'll make it annoying for the squirrels to be around.

Does she know where they are coming in? Block off the entrance with wire mesh to keep them out.
